MIAMI, Florida — Jay-Z his extended his personal support of upholding Trayvon Martin’s legacy as he delivered a speech on his behalf at the Peace Walk & Peace Talk in Miami Gardens, Florida over the weekend. Together with Trayvon’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, the hip-hop mogul spoke on the incident that disrupted many communities around the world, back in 2012, when Trayvon Martin was wrongfully murdered by George Zimmerman
“We want to make sure that we stand and support and never forget that Trayvon serves as a beacon of light to the people out here,” said Jay-Z. “So you guys never have to go through the pain and hurt that these guys went through. His name will sit alongside the greats whom lost their lives to push our culture forward—the Martin Luther Kings, the Gandhis. That’s the intention we set so his name will serve as a beacon of light and hope to push our culture forward in a better direction.”
The Roc Nation founder, will serve as the executive producer of an upcoming feature-length narrative film and a six-part television docu-series on Trayvon Martin, Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin.
