VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Kawhi Leonard scored 12 points (19 minutes) in his first game for the Toronto Raptors who defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 122-104 on Saturday night in Vancouver, British Columbia, in their preseason opener.
Leonard played just nine games last season for San Antonio because of a thigh injury. The 2014 NBA Finals MVP hadn’t played in a game since January.
“Yeah, you know it’s going to take time to get my rhythm, but I felt great being out there and just being able to compete,” Leonard told reporters. “It was important just for me getting acclimated to the team. Like I was saying, in game play calls, seeing what everyone does on the floor, so it was important.”
