PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — Joel Embiid collected another 40 point outing guding the 76ers (8-5) to an overtime victory over the Charlotte Hornets (6-6) on Friday night.
The former Kentucky Wildcat big man finished with 42 points and 18 rebounds, while knocking down 14-of-16 free throws in 76ers 133-132 victory.
“He’s a really good shooter, and he’s confident by nature,” Brett Brown said of Embiid. “That’s a pretty good collision of skill and mind. He’s not afraid of the moment.”
Ben Simmons added 22 points, 13 assists, and 8 boards for the 76ers. Dario Saric chipped in 18 points and 9 boards. JJ Reddick scored 17 points.
The Sixers improved to 7-0 at the Wells Fargo Center, the most home wins to start the season since 2002-03.

Kemba Walker netted 30 points to lead seven Hornets players in double figures.
Dwayne Bacon scored 15 points for the Hornets who will face Detroit on Sunday.
