CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Kent State University men’s basketball team (1-0) kicked off the 2018-19 season by defeating Cleveland State 83-79 at the Wolstein Center in the Coaches vs. Cancer Doubleheader on Sunday.
The Flashes were led by senior Jalen Avery, who scored 23 points, three rebounds and 1 steal on 6-of-17 shooting from the floor. Antonio Williams collected 18 points and five rebounds, while CJ Williamson addeded 16 points and eight rebounds.
Cleveland State was led by Tyree Appleby who had a game-high 28 points and two rebounds. Jaalam Hill added 15 points for the Cleveland State Vikings (0-2).
The Flashes are scheduled to return to the M.A.C. Center for their home opener against Shawnee State on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.
