LOS ANGELES, California — The Detroit Pistons Blake Griffin erupted for 44 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assist and 3 steals to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 109-104 win over the Los Angeles Clippers (24-18) on Saturday night at the Staples Center.
“There was a lot of hype coming into this game and I was looking forward to it, but I’m glad that it’s over,” he said. “The next time I come it won’t be as crazy.”
Blake Griffin, a former No. 1 overall selection in the 2009 NBA Draft, was greeted with cheers during pregame introductions and received a standing ovation after a first-quarter video tribute from the organization that opted to take him.
“He played great,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said.
Griffin averaged 21.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists in eight seasons for the Clippers. He was the Rookie of the Year and a five-time All-Star with the franchise.
Andre Drummond had 20 points and 21 rebounds for the Pistons, while Reggie Bullock finished with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists
Reggie Jackson added 10 points and 4 assists. Detroit (18-23) will take on Utah on Monday night.

Danillo Gallinari led the Clippers with 23 points. Lou Williams added 22 points, and Montrezl Harrell had 21 points and nine rebounds.
The Clippers take on New Orleans on Monday night.
