SEATTLE, Washington — Amazon announced that it has canceled its plans to move forward with building a headquarters in Long Island City, Queens. The announcement comes after, the multinational technology company which focuses in e-commerce, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, elected New York City and Arlington, Virginia, as the locations for the company’s new headquarters.
There are currently over 5,000 Amazon employees in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Staten Island.
Amazon was expected to create more than 50,000 jobs across the two new headquarters locations, with more than 25,000 employees each in New York City and Arlington.
The tech giant announced it will proceed as planned in Northern Virginia and Nashville, and we will continue to hire and grow across our 17 corporate offices and tech hubs in the U.S. and Canada.
