PORTLAND, Oregon — Kyrie Irving scored 33 points and 6 assists for the Brooklyn Nets (4-4) to spoil Damian Lilliard’s career-and franchise-high 60 point scoring game for the Portland Trailblazers (3-6) in a 119-115 win on Friday night.
“We tried zone, box-and-one, we tried blitz, we threw the kitchen sink at him,” Nets coach Kenny Atkinson said of Lillard. “He just kept making incredible shots.”
Lillard set a franchise record with the highest-scoring game of the season in the NBA. He was 19-of-33 from the field, 7-of-16 from 3-point range and made all 15 of his free throws. Lilliard also added 5 assists and 4 rebounds.
