LONDON, England — Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will no longer use their HRH titles and will not receive public funds for royal duties.
They will no longer formally represent Queen Elisabeth II.
“As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments,” the Buckingham Palace statement said.
“The Sussexes will not use their HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family,” the palace said.
The monarch said in a personal statement attached to the Palace’s announcement that “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family.
Harry and Meghan plan to keep the cottage, which underwent a controversial $3 million taxpayer-funded renovation last year. The announcement said the couple had decided to pay that money back to the British government.
