NEW YORK, New York — Former presidential candidate Michael R. Bloomberg is donating a $100M to Black students studying to become doctors. The billionaire businessman made the announcement that his charitable organization, Bloomberg Philanthropies, committed to giving $100M to medical schools at four historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) over the next four years.
“Black patients overall have better outcomes when they are treated by Black doctors. A wealth of data supports this, including a recent study that found Black newborns treated by Black physicians had higher rates of survival,” Bkoombrrg writes in a Co-OP with CNN.
