STOCKHOLM, Sweden — In celebration of Women’s Month and International Women’s Day, Women in Tech returns for its annual conference held in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday March 10, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s conference which has the theme “Power of Resilience,” will be held virtually.
At Women In Tech 2021, the conference will highlight people, technology, innovations and collaborations that pave the way for a better future and inspire hope. This year’s list of inspiring keynote speakers announced include Dr Rana el Kaliouby Co-founder, CEO at Affectiva, Gitanjali Rao Innovator and TIME Kid of the Year 2020, Award winning Author, Travel Photographer and TEDx Speaker Lola Akinmade Åkerström and more in its eighth year.

Keynote speaker, Rana el Kaliouby, Ph.D., from Cairo, Egypt is Co-Founder and CEO of Affectiva, and author of the newly released book Girl Decoded: A Scientist’s Quest to Reclaim Our Humanity by Bringing Emotional Intelligence to Technology. A passionate advocate for humanizing technology, ethics in AI and diversity, Rana has been recognized on Fortune’s 40 Under 40 list and as one of Forbes’ Top 50 Women in Tech. Rana is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and a Young Presidents’ Organization member, and co-hosted a PBS NOVA series on AI. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and a Post Doctorate from MIT.
Gitanjali Rao was recognized as America’s Top Young Scientist and received an EPA Presidential award for inventing her device “Tethys”—an early lead detection tool. Gitanjali is also the inventor of “Epione”—a device for early diagnosis of prescription opioid addiction using genetic engineering, and “Kindly”—an anti-cyberbullying service using AI and Natural Language processing. She was honored as Forbes “30 Under 30 in Science” in 2019 and TIME’s “Top Young Innovator” and “Kid of the Year” for her innovations and STEM workshops she conducts globally, which has inspired over thirty-eight thousand students in the last two years across four continents.
Also on the digital scene will be Katrine Marçal, journalist and author, whose book “Inventing the world: how history’s biggest mistake put sticks in the wheel” will be released in English later this year under the powerful title: “Mother of Invention: How Good Ideas Get Ignored In An Economy Build For Men.” Entrepreneur and investor Nora Bavey who works to change the VC industry as a new partner at Unconventional Ventures, and the adventurer / narrator Lola Akinmade Åkerström who has just debuted with the book “In Every Mirror She’s Black”.
The annual Women In Tech Conference features over 20 tech companies and plays host to some 2500 attendees.
