Mayor Bing Won’t Seek Re-election In Detroit

DETROIT — Mayor Dave Bing announced that he is not seeking re-election to a second term as Detroit mayor. Mayor Dave Bing also spoke at a press conference regarding Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr’s recently released Financial and Operating Plan AND

“Our City is in a dire financial situation” and “The City’s accumulated operating deficit is expected to reach nearly $380 million by the end of the fiscal year, which is next month,” Mayor Dave Bing said.

Mayor Dave Bing said in a surprise announcement Tuesday he will create a committee to explore other opportunities, including a possible run for Wayne County executive.

John Kerry: Sweden is Important to Afghanistan

STOCKHOLM—-

John Kerry ( US Foregin Minister) spoke to Swedish press on Tuesday and explained his position as well as the importance of Sweden’s participation in the US-led Nato mission in Afghanistan.

“We are very grateful for whatever Sweden decides to do. As we have said previously ‘in together, out together’. That is the philosophy that has guided us in respect to the mission.”

“Very shortly the president does intend to make public what his plans are for post-2014. But I can tell you that he is committed to continuing to support the mission and will keep supporting the Afghan military.”

“We have not invested in this, all of us together for all of these years, in order to invite failure,” Kerry said.

John Kerry Visits Stockholm (Talk Syria)

SWEDEN—

US Secretary of State John Kerry will arrive in Stockholm on Tuesday to discuss issues including the situation in Syria and the stalled Middle East amongst other topics.

Kerry will meet his Swedish counterpart Carl Bildt and Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, the government said on its website. Economic development in the European Union, a future free trade agreement between Europe and the US, and issues relating to the Arctic were also on the agenda. Kerry is one of the foreign ministers of the Arctic Council, an international forum for the eight states bordering the Arctic, who are meeting on May 15 in Kiruna, in northern Sweden.

President Barack Obama “Before I speak, I have something important to say,” gave his 5th address to the organization of journalists who cover the White House and more.

“Everybody loves First Lady Michelle Obama,” President Barack Obama said.

In poetic fashion, President Obama poked at himself, news organizations, Jay – Z and politicians in the room.

“I got 99 problems and now Jay – Z is one,” President Barack Obama said.

President Obama closed his speech about the Midwest floods and reminded the audience of the important role the media(journalists), first responders, peace officers(law enforccment) and more plays in American society during times of crisis like the Boston Marathon bombings and the in West, Texas.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says that because Republicans in Congress allowed a series of harmful, automatic budget cuts—called the sequester—to take effect, important programs like Head Start are now forced to reduce their services. After travelers were stuck for hours in airports and on planes this past week, members of Congress passed a temporary band-aid measure to stop the cuts that impact airlines — but they must do more to stop cuts to vital services for the American people. That’s why it’s time for a balanced approach to deficit reduction that makes smarter cuts and reforms in the tax code while creating jobs and strengthening the middle class.

President Barrack Obama Speaks On The Explosions In Boston

WASHINGTON D.C. —-

President Obama talks about the explosions that took place at the Boston Marathon.

The President explained that he had been briefed by his Homeland Security team, who are continuing to monitor the situation as it unfolds, and had “directed the full resources of the federal government to help state and local authorities protect our people, increase security around the United States as necessary, and investigate what happened.”

“The American people will say a prayer for Boston tonight,” he said. “And Michelle and I send our deepest thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims in the wake of this senseless loss.”

We still do not know who did this or why. And people shouldn’t jump to conclusions before we have all the facts. But make no mistake — we will get to the bottom of this. And we will find out who did this; we’ll find out why they did this. Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups will feel the full weight of justice.

Today is a holiday in Massachusetts — Patriots’ Day. It’s a day that celebrates the free and fiercely independent spirit that this great American city of Boston has reflected from the earliest days of our nation. And it’s a day that draws the world to Boston’s streets in a spirit of friendly competition. Boston is a tough and resilient town. So are its people. I’m supremely confident that Bostonians will pull together, take care of each other, and move forward as one proud city. And as they do, the American people will be with them every single step of the way.

You should anticipate that as we get more information, our teams will provide you briefings. We’re still in the investigation stage at this point. But I just want to reiterate we will find out who did this and we will hold them accountable.
