ATL Live on the Park celebrated its birthday with a twist last night. Not only did music fans enjoy live performances by two of music industries up and coming new artists; Canjelae and India Shawn, Shanti Das and Marlon Nichols invited comedian’s Joe Clair and Mario Tory to add some laughter to the mix.

The birthday celebration kicked-off with a performance by Bermuda songbird Canjelae. Known for her unique blend of or R&B, pop and rock and roll, Canjelae began her performance with a cover of Usher’s Bad Girl. The sultry artist closed her set with new music titled First Time and Promise Me.

Up and coming comedian, Mario Tory kept the night going by giving a gut-busting performance that had the crowd laughing out of control. The down to earth comedian joked about everything from his kids to hair extensions and eye lashes. The comedian recommended the following advice…”Don’t have a family member give you a lace front weave.”

Top music mogul, Chaka Zulu introduced his newest protégé, India Shawn to music fans last night. With a voice that her fans compare to silk and melodies that are purely organic, the Trini-American beauty performed music from her debut project, Origin. India started her set with No One to Feel which transitioned into a cover of John Legend’s hit song, Tonight. The songstress continued to wow the crowd with not only her charm and charisma, but with also the spiritual / emotional connection she has with her music. Her second performance of No Saint, which was based off a real life story, gave music fans insight about her past relationship problems. India closed her set with her latest single, I’m Alive.

Comedian Joe Clair’s real life stories made the night unforgettable.

Joe Clair on stage; Photo credit: Prince Williams of ATL Live on the Park

Erica Hamilton; Photo credit: Prince Williams of ATL Live on the Park

The famed comedian, who is known to be funny, in an intelligent rant sort-of-way, joked about real black women and why his wife is corporate and ghetto. He had the crowd going crazy talking about childhood candy favorites his wife purchases for their home such as Lemon Heads, Chick O Sticks, Boston Baked Beans and grape sodas.

Shanti Das and Marlon Nichols sealed the evening with a birthday toast complimentary of the events’ sponsor Gentleman Jack, thanking everyone for their continued support throughout the years.

(L to R): Shanti Das and Marlon Nichols; Photo credit: Prince Williams of ATL Live on the Park

Shanti stated “It is not easy in this market to develop and sustain a live music event on a monthly basis and we are truly overwhelmed with the support from Atlanta four years later! We appreciate our fans and hope to continue bringing Atlanta the best music & entertainment in the business! Thank you to all of our amazing artists that have performed on our stage. Right on to real music!!” Marlon added, “After four years, considering all the options live music lovers have here in Atlanta, to see a crowd like this come out and celebrate with us on a Tuesday night is a true testament to the level of talent and pure entertainment that has graced this stage over the years. We are so thankful, and look forward to four more years!”

Industry heavyweights in attendance last night included: Chaka Zulu – Ludacris Manager , Kawan Prather – SVP of A&R Atlantic Records, Peter Thomas – RHOA, new artist Adrian Marcel, Joe Clair, Kenny Burns, DJ Trauma, super producer Black Elvis, San Diego Chargers Takeo Spikes, RHOA / Fashion Queens Derek J, Big Tigger and Keisha Knight-Pulliam.

Next month, ATL Live on the Park will be on fire! The much anticipated event will take place on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Park Tavern.

DETROIT – Cadillac is blending fashion and automotive design with the launch of “Style Driven,” a four-part video vignette offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the life of fashion stylist Erin Walsh, as she curates outfits for guests attending the famous Costume Institute Benefit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Cadillac Launches ‘Style Driven’ Series on Vogue.TV

Walsh’s keen eye for the beautiful and unique within fashion has propelled her to be one of the most sought-after stylists, and has already consulted the likes of Kristen Wiig, Kerry Washington and Gwyneth Paltrow. This year, Walsh styles actress Greta Gerwig for the Met Gala.

The video series follows Walsh as she makes her way through New York City in a Cadillac SRXpicking dresses and jewelry for Gerwig. Throughout the series, Walsh offers insights into her process, the importance of the Met Gala and how Cadillac helps her make everything possible.

“I have always marveled at the synchronicity of form and function in creative design,” said Walsh. “To me, something beautiful, especially when it comes to fashion, should be made with an attention to detail that reflects this aesthetic. It is not inherent to design but rather takes a certain attention to detail and one that I do look for in architecture, theater, art, cinema and especially in brands that are capable of consistently guarding the marriage of art and commerce. Cadillac is so clearly an example of this, historically and today.”

The annual Costume Institute Benefit features a who’s who in fashion and culture with celebrity attendees from film, music and fashion. In addition to the video series, Cadillac will provide VIP valet service to a select group of celebrities attending the event.

“Fashion and design are territories that easily mesh with Cadillac’s Art and Science philosophy,” said Melody Lee, director of brand and reputation strategy. “Working with the team on the Vogue.TV video series to showcase Erin’s unique approach in creating beautiful style ensembles is quite similar to the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into the design of Cadillac vehicles like the SRX.”

Known as Atlanta’s favorite day party, the SSL hosted over 1500 guests at Cantina located in the heart of Buckhead Atlanta. Special guests for the event included international hip hop artist Flo Rida and Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter/producer Raphael Saadiq. Guests indulged on authentic Mexican cuisine coupled with specialty MALIBU RED cocktails (a mixture of Caribbean Rum and Mexican Tequila) while dancing from mid-day until evening.

Flo Rida took to the stage for an impromptu performance bringing everyone to the dance floor and getting the ladies ready for a sensual serenade by R&B bad boy Pleasure P and hot new artist Adrian Marcel (signed to Raphael Saadiq). Additional notable guests included; NFL Player Takeo Spikes, hip hop artist Gorilla Zoe, pop culture personality Tami Reed (Oxygen/Find Me a Man), music producer Isaac Hayes III, BMI executive Byron Wright, and many more. DJ Trauma, E-Clazz and Stephan the DJ played crowded-moving sets from the 90s to today, creating a consistent mix of beautiful people on the dance floor all day long.

“Sunset de Mayo” was a complete cultural celebration featuring the artwork of one of the Atlanta entertainment industry’s most recognizable personalities; Freddyo (www.freddyo.com).

Several of Freddyo’s paintings celebrating female images in African American and Hispanic culture along with pieces celebrating Atlanta were displayed at the venue. Freddyo achieved notoriety as a photojournalist on the Atlanta entertainment scene before returning to one of his first passions, art. ”It was an honor for my work to be featured,” says Freddyo. ”The Sunset Lounge is one of those events that everyone can come out and enjoy. It makes sense that celebrities come out because it’s a place they can celebrate with fans without being mobbed and even promote their work. It’s a different energy than a club and that’s refreshing.”

The Sunset Lounge has proven to be Atlanta’s favorite Day Party partnering an unmatched ambiance at the hottest venues in Atlanta, with beautiful guests, celebrities, tastemakers and key influencers against the backdrop lit with the brilliance of a sunny day. The Sunset Lounge Collective is comprised of ATLbarz, FCC and Moetown Lee. This is the fifth year for SSL and the coordinators are planning additional collaborations and special editions over the upcoming months.
