Calvin Johnson, Lions agree to eight-year, $132 million deal
Allen Park — The Lions will announce at 1 p.m. press conference Wednesday that they have signed receiver Calvin Johnson to the richest deal ever given in the NFL.
The new eight-year contract that keeps Johnson in Detroit through 2019 is worth nearly $132 million, with $60 million guaranteed.
Johnson’s current contract, which was set to expire after the 2012 season, has been replaced. Johnson signed that contract after the Lions made him the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 draft.
“Congrats to @bigplayCJ and the Lions,” wrote quarterback Matthew Stafford on Twitter. “Couldn’t happen to a better guy! Glad to have him back for a while!”
