DETROIT – The Washington-Parks Academy chess team was honored March 13, 2012 by the Detroit City Council for winning the Primary, Elementary & Jr. High State Chess Championships.
The understanding that someone care’s enough to help mold their minds. Knowing they have been given the education and tools to accomplish their goals, makes me proud! The realization that the discipline, knowledge obtained from chess will eventually help shape their adult lives. While challenging their character as young decision maker’s and future leader’s. Makes me proud to be from Detroit, Michigan!
