WNBA: Sweden’s Farhiya Abdi Selected By Sparks With 13th Pick

BRISTOL, Conn. –

Sweden’s Farhiya Abdi was selected with the 13th overall pick in the second round of the WNBA by The Los Angeles Sparks this afternoon in Bristol Connecticut.

The 20-year-old Abdi(08 Stockholm), who is currently playing in Czech Republic for Czech’s Frisco Brno was also a member of the team that finished fourth at the Summer Universiade in 2011 .

Farhiya’s Accolades:

-nominated for FIBA Europe’s Young Player of the Year award 2011.

-voted European M.V.P. (under 16 – European Championships)

-won a Swedish championship with 08 Stockholm

-named Sweden’s forward of the year 2010

-won all-star honors at the U-20 European Championships ‘B’

- Euroleague with Frisco Brno.
