Samsung Galaxy S III coming to Canada June 20
Samsung has confirmed that as of June 20, the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S III will be coming to Canada this summer. Canadians will be able to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S III through Rogers, Telus and Quebec’s Videotron, Mobile Syrup reports.
The Canadian iteration of the device will vary slightly from the European version, BGR said in an article, instead featuring a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM. The U.S. version will also use the dual-core Snapdragon processor, but it is unclear yet if it will also get double the RAM like the Canadian version.
Mobile Syrup reports that Telus is offering a deal at launch for those hoping to get their hands on the new device, waiving the $35 activation fee when you purchase the phone for a three year term. Customers can purchase either a 16GB model for $159.99 or a 32GB model at $209.99. The Samsung Galaxy S III will be available in marble white and pebble blue.
The Samsung Galaxy S III will include S Voice, a voice assistant program similar to the iPhone 4S’s Siri, 50GB of free cloud storage through the Dropbox app, ‘S Beam’ which allows two Samsung Galaxy S III phones to transfer up to a 1GB movie file to be shared by touching the phones and an 8MP camera, plus many other features outlined in the press release.
There’s just one caveat: don’t ask the Galaxy S III which you think is the best smartphone. Like Apple’s Siri, when asked what the best smartphone available is, both Siri and Samsung S’s voice assistantanswered the Lumia 900 Windows Phone. Both services accessed Best Buy user ratings to determine that out of all smartphones currently in the market, the Lumia 900 was getting the best reviews. If you’d rather follow the Samsung S’s voice assistant’s advice rather than purchasing a Samsung Galaxy S III, it’s available in Canada now through Rogers.
