Bobcats steam roll Kings 121-87
LAS VEGAS–
First year head Coach Mike Dunlap and the Bobcats arrived at the NBA Summer League with a very different look from Owner’s Michael Jordan’s previous teams in the past.
Although it’s just the first game of the summer league, Jordan seems to have successfully turned the corner for an up and coming small market franchise with his off season acquisitions after year’s of juggling to maintain the business side of things in Charlotte to it’s highly anticipated kick off for the 2012-13 season.
Sweden’s Jeffrey Taylor proved to be a steal as the 31st pick in the 2012 draft. The Vandy graduate poured in 17 points while going 7 of 10 from field and 3 of 4 from 3 point line. Taylor also displayed his ability to defend multiple positions on the floor as the defensive intensity and higher pace of the game was quite evident as Coach Dunlap and his squad went on to win 121-87 over Sacramento.
The second overall pick in the 2012 draft Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist left no time for the world to get to know him as he scored 10 points in the first six minutes of play to finish the night off with 18 points to go with eight rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Kemba Walker chipped in with 16 points, seven assists and two steals.
Rookie T. Robinson led Sacramento with 19 points and added five rebounds in his Summer League debut.
NEXT UP
The Bobcats will practice in Las Vegas on Saturday before taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers at 8:30 p.m. (EST) on Sunday at the Thomas and Mack Center. Watch the game on NBA TV.
Key Additions
Michael Jordan and the Bobcats acquired veteran scorer Ben Gordon from the Detroit Pistons prior to the NBA Draft. This will provide a void in the scoring department and take less pressure off of the rookies coming in.
Also. they recently signed free agent guard Ramon Sessions. A five-year NBA veteran, the 6-3 Sessions has played in 323 career games with the Bucks, Timberwolves, Cavaliers and Lakers, posting averages of 11.1 points, 5.0 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 25.4 minutes.
Sessions provides a steady back court tandem with Kemba Walker.
