Dominant Serena Williams, Wins Olympic gold @serenawilliams
WIMBLEDON, ENGLAND — Serena Williams added Olympic singles gold to her resume on Saturday with a straight-set victory in the women’s tennis final at the London Games against Russia’s Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1.
Williams won her fifth Wimbledon singles crown last month completing a great month of tennis for the superstar tennis player and dominated the competition at women’s final during the 2012 single’s Olympic tennis tournament.
“I played two Olympics, which is pretty awesome, and have two gold medals, which is even better.” Williams said in a recent interview!
Saturday marked the 3rd time she won a set without losing a game.The talented Williams can now add a 2012 singles gold medal onto her brilliant career and list of accomplishments that include winning Olympic doubles gold with her sister Venus in 2000 and 2008 along with her 14 Grand Slam singles championships, the most of any active woman.
