Mayor Dave Bing Plans To Demolish 10,000 Vacant Structures By December 2013 @mayordavebing
DETROIT — Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has stepped up to the plate as he begins an effort to revitalize neighborhoods in Detroit, Michigan by demolishing 10,000 vacant structures by December 2013.
Mayor Dave Bing, public schools emergency manager Roy Roberts and Michigan Governor Rick Snyder agree to implement a revitalization program to make school zone’s safe for students by demolishing vacant homes.
The city of Detroit and Mayor Dave Bing planned to tear down 1,500 dangerous and abandoned structures by the end of September 2012. The initial plan for the program will begin in Detroit’s Morningside neighborhood (1/2-mile radius around the school) and is expected to be expanded to other neighborhoods that desperately need vacant homes demolished.
